Until now, groups only appeared automatically in the timeline of a fixed target audience. With the new settings, you can now choose the privacy option that best fits your group.

Group visibility options

When creating an organization group, you can choose from three privacy settings:

  • Private: Only visible to the assigned target audience.

  • Public: Visible to everyone in the organization. Employees can join directly.

  • Public with approval: Visible to everyone in the organization. Employees can send a membership request, which must be approved by a group admin or moderator.

⚠️ The chosen privacy setting cannot be changed after the group is created.

Discoverability & joining

  • Public groups are listed under “Explore Groups”
Currently only available in app, later also on web.

  • Employees can tap “Join group”:

    • For Public, they get direct access.

    • For Public with approval, a request is sent to the group admins and moderators.

Approval process

  • Membership requests are shared via:

    • Push notification

    • In-app (and web-app) notification

  • Admins and moderators can also find all requests in the group itself:

    • In the web-app under the Requests tab (right side of the group).

    • In the mobile app under the Members tab (top of the group).

  • Requests can be approved or declined:

    • Approved → The employee receives a notification and gains access.

    • Declined → The employee does not receive a message.

👉 Admins always have access and never need to request membership.

Managing membership

  • Employees can leave a group at any time after joining.

With (semi-)public groups, you decide how visible and accessible your groups are. This way, employees can easily discover the right information and connect with the right colleagues.
