The High-Five feature makes it easy to give recognition to each other. Whether recognition comes from a peer or a manager, it always contributes to a positive work culture.

Why high fives are valuable

  • From colleagues: they strengthen trust, respect, and connection within the team.

  • From managers: they give employees extra recognition, validation, and pride, because appreciation from a leader often carries special meaning.

High fives are an informal gesture, designed to make giving recognition quick and easy. They are not a formal evaluation system. That means one person might receive several high fives in a short time, while someone else might not receive one for a while — and that’s completely normal.

👉 The goal is not to give everyone the same number of high fives, but to build a culture of appreciation where recognition becomes a natural part of working together.

How to give a High-Five

  1. Go to the Colleagues tab in the Hub (both in the app and the webapp).

  2. Select the colleague you want to give a High-Five to.

  3. Open their profile.

  4. Click on the High five button.

  5. Write a personal message.

  6. Choose whether you want to share the High-Five on a group timeline.

    • Note: you can only share in groups you are both a member of.

  7. Optional: select one or more company values (if set up by your organization).

What does the receiver see?

  • The colleague receives a notification of the High-Five.

  • If shared, the High-Five will also appear on the timeline of the selected group.

  • Currently, there is no separate overview page for High-Fives. They are visible through notifications and the timeline.

Company values

If your company has set up the values of the organization in Oneteam, you will also be able to give a colleague a high five based on the values of the organization. The values can be found underneath the text field, and you can select one or multiple values to link to your high five.

Once you have selected a colleague you would like to give a high five to, you can write a message, and also select a company value:

  • Be specific: explain why you’re giving a High-Five.

  • Use the timeline: sharing makes recognition visible to more people.

  • Connect to values: link High-Fives to company values to strengthen culture and behavior.

  • Encourage managers: recognition from leaders carries extra impact and strengthens team spirit.
